What to Expect at Your First Visit

Trying a new chiropractor can feel a little uncertain when you do not know what to expect.

At Life Source Chiropractic, we want your first visit to feel simple, comfortable, and straightforward. You should understand what is happening, why it is happening, and what the next step will be.

Here is what your first visit with Dr. Rob looks like.

Check In

When you arrive, you will check in at the front office.

If you have already completed your new-patient paperwork online, you can simply have a seat in the waiting area until Dr. Rob is ready for you.

If you have not completed your paperwork yet, that is completely fine. You can fill it out when you arrive.

Your paperwork gives Dr. Rob important information about your symptoms, health history, previous injuries, and what has been bothering you.

Consultation

Next, you will go back to the exam room for a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Rob.

This is where you get to explain what is going on.

He may ask questions like:

  • Where are you hurting?

  • How long has it been going on?

  • What makes it better or worse?

  • Have you had any previous injuries?

  • Is it affecting your work, sleep, exercise, or daily activities?

  • What would you like to be able to do more comfortably?

This conversation is an important part of the visit because your care should be based on your individual situation, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

X-Rays, if needed

Depending on your symptoms, health history, and examination findings, Dr. Rob may recommend X-rays.

Not every patient automatically needs imaging.

If X-rays are appropriate, they can be taken during your first visit. They may provide additional information that helps Dr. Rob better understand what is going on and make informed recommendations about your care.

Examination

After your consultation, Dr. Rob will perform a thorough examination.

Depending on your concern, this may include looking at things such as:

  • Range of motion

  • Areas of tenderness or stiffness

  • Posture

  • Joint movement

  • Muscle function

  • Orthopedic or neurological findings when appropriate

  • How certain movements affect your symptoms

The goal is to gather the information needed to understand your problem as clearly as possible.

Schedule Your Follow-Up Visit

At the end of your first appointment, you will schedule your next visit.

At this follow-up, Dr. Rob will review your findings in detail.

If X-rays were taken, he will review them with you and explain what he sees.

He will also discuss what may be contributing to your symptoms, what he recommends, and how he may be able to help.

Follow-Up Visit

The purpose of your follow-up visit is to make sure you understand your results and your options.

Dr. Rob will explain:

  • What he found

  • What may be contributing to your pain or discomfort

  • What type of care he recommends

  • Why he recommends it

  • What goals you will be working toward

  • What you can expect going forward

You should leave with a clear understanding of the plan and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Why We Do It This Way

When you are hurting, it is natural to want someone to fix the problem right away.

But good care starts with understanding the problem first.

That is why your first visit focuses on consultation, evaluation, and gathering information before deciding what care makes sense for you.

The goal is not to guess.

The goal is to understand what is going on and help you make an informed decision about your care.

Ready to Take the First Step?

If pain, stiffness, or limited movement has been getting in the way of your day, you do not have to keep guessing about what is causing it.

Schedule your first visit with Dr. Rob at Life Source Chiropractic and take the first step toward understanding what may be contributing to your symptoms.
